Central Wyoming College
Art
Central Wyoming College's Art program is designed to let the student develop a creative attitude toward presenting and interpreting art forms. Fundamentals are provided through the investigation of various concepts, projects, materials, and techniques in both the traditional and the contemporary. Course work is directed at providing knowledge, interest, and understanding of art as a primary form of visual communication. A student's program may be designed to reflect a specific interest or a general direction in art.
An Associate of Arts degree in Art is available for the student desiring a diverse background in college studies. This includes art courses for the transfer bound student seeking a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Fine Arts at other institutions.
The Credential program allows a student to concentrate time and interest in art without taking outside area courses. The Two Dimensional Credential includes painting, drawing, photography, design, printmaking, and computer/video. The Three Dimensional Credential includes Sculpture and Ceramics. The Artist's Credential combines the Two and Three Dimensional Credentials, creating a broad area of medias studied. And, we have an exciting program in graphic design .
Student participation is encouraged within the art department. Twice a year the students have an opportunity to exhibit their artworks and to compete for award money. Students also sell their work at the annual Winter Art Fair. In addition, we schedule numerous workshops that allow the students to interact with national artists. Finally the Great Art Group, a student based organization, allows students interested in art to meet each other. They also do fund-raising so that yearly they can go on a field trip to national museums and galleries.
The gallery on campus shows national artists who create artwork in a variety of media. This space allows the student to see what artists locally, regionally and nationally are doing in their chosen media.
We offer art scholarships to students and actively recruit within the region to attract talented and dedicated students. Many of our students have gone on the impressive schools and jobs. If you are interested in learning more about our department, please contact us.

Music
The Central Wyoming College Music Department in-
vites you to join in a dynamic quality program, consisting of a two-year curriculum that leads to an Associate of Arts degree.
The department offers you a major in music to prepare you to enter specialized programs at four-year institutions. It also serves non-music majors who are interested in continuing their musical pursuits.
Performance
The program offers many performance opportunities for you to participate in, including Collegiate Chorale, College Band, chamber music ensembles, Big Band, jazz combos, JAZZMAGIC, and the Central Wyoming Acappella Chamber Singers. The department also offers individual instruction in voice, piano, and most instruments plus opportunities to be in musical theatre.
Facilities
Adjacent to the 942-seat theater, the music area in the Robert A. Peck Arts Center is equipped with soundproof classrooms, rehearsal, and practice areas. State-of-the-art equipment is available for student use: grand pianos, computer-assisted instruction in classes, a fully-integrated recording studio, a MIDI piano lab, and a large music listening library.
With all this to offer, the music department offers you a myriad of choices to work in and explore.
* Try your hand at audio engineering in the college's recording studio and theatre.
* Learn music composition using state-of-the-art digital music work stations.
* Integrate your music and theater experiences.
Touring
Music students can participate in a variety of tour experiences that are first rate. Student performance groups tour throughout Wyoming each year, an opportunity that is sometimes not available at other colleges. CWC is the only college in Wyoming to tour a theater production annually, giving students a unique experience that is not typical in a two-year program.
The music program is fully transferable to four-year schools. Start out your music history and theory sequence in small, personal classes. Work on your instrument or voice with experienced, highly-qualified instructors. Be in the "front line" in performance ensembles and musical theatre.
Theater
This program offers students opportunities to explore various aspects of acting and technical theater within the context of a liberal education. The department stresses that it is not a professional training school; it does, however, provide experiences in many areas of production and prepares students for upper level undergraduate, professional or apprenticeship training.
A combination of coursework and practical experience provides our graduates with a solid foundation in all aspects of theatre. If you are looking for a friendly, student-centered, nurturing program, consider CWC. Our three annual major productions-including a musical - provide ample opportunities to perform and to work in technical capacities. Frequently, a show is toured to several Wyoming towns, offering a unique experience that is not typical in a two-year program.
Our students learn with state-of-the-art audio, lighting, and special effects equipment in the 942-seat Robert A. Peck Arts Center Theatre. The Arts Center also houses a scene shop, dressing and make-up rooms, classrooms, recording studio, art gallery, and a dance studio/black box theatre for intimate productions. Our third performance space, the "Little Theatre," is located in the Student Center.
In addition to the core curriculum, students have the opportunity to take special topics theatre courses such as scene painting and directing. Our students are also encouraged to take advantage of the excellent music, art, communication, and radio and television courses, which CWC offers. For those who are interested in musical theatre, our Music Department offers top-notch, individualized vocal training.
The CWC theatre program is fully-transferable to four-year schools. We offer a variety of financial aid opportunities, including many theatre scholarships. Get a part-time job working backstage and earn as you learn.
