Coleman College-La Mesa
About the College
The mission of Coleman College is to prepare students for meaningful careers in the computer professions, while providing an environment where those who become a part of this academic community may develop their full potential as human beings.
Coleman consistently provides extensive hands-on experience for its students, who have ready access to the latest computer equipment. That's part of the Coleman difference. We expect our graduates to encounter a wide variety of technical events and problems on the job, so it makes sense for them to encounter them first during training.
The College has a large variety of computers, including PC, Macintosh, midrange and mainframe. The equipment and software are updated on a regular basis. The multiple platforms are interconnected via a switched Ethernet backbone to provide students with maximum experience on the most prevalent computer systems used in business and industry.
We have many qualified & friendly instructors, a powerful mainframe and high-tech equipment to keep us on the cutting edge of technology. The knowledgeable administrative staff is also here to make your academic learning process a wonderful and fulfilling time at Coleman College.

* Keeping class sizes small
* Teaching skills that employers are seeking in industry
Coleman College's Unique Educational Approach
Coleman's inverted curriculum delivers your career training first. This innovative approach allows you to become qualified for a computer-related position in a matter of months. Once you earn a certificate and start your career, you can return to Coleman in the evening and via Distance Education to complete the general education and advanced technology requirements for an associate or bachelor's degree. Coleman also offers a Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) and a Master of Science in Business and Technology Management (MSBTM) degree.
Undergraduate Academic Programs
Coleman College's accelerated undergraduate programs provide students with the qualifications necessary to begin a career in Information Technology. Coleman's courses offer hands-on, practical training emphasizing concepts and fundamental skills in the student's area of specialization. Small classes give the students close interaction with their instructors and classmates.
Coleman College's "major first" approach to education allows students to take the technical courses in their major first, as part of their specialized core program. Students earn a certificate upon completing the core and may then pursue additional required courses toward the associate degree. These remaining requirements can be completed in the evening while the student is progressing in his or her career, within limitations.
Computer Graphic Design (CGD)
Core Program
The objective of the Computer Graphic Design (CGD) curriculum is to develop students' critical and creative thinking processes and proficiency with the tools, media and techniques of the graphics field, from traditional approaches to the use of computer-generated art and its role in the interface of the World Wide Web.
Associate of Science Degree
This program offers the student the technical skills to establish a career in the field of computer graphic design. Students will also develop important human relations and communication skills that enhance a career in the design field.
Bachelor of Science Degree
Courses in their major will expose them to graphic design history, principles of design, professional practices, and the opportunity to refine their design skills. The B.S. will help them to grow and develop their portfolio and further their career in the design industry.
