Music
The College of Saint Mary Music Department offers applied music courses in a variety of instruments and voice, as well as courses in music history and music theory. Ensemble experience is available through participation in CSM Chorus and CSM Singers. A minor in music is offered; requirements are listed in the catalog. Music courses can also be included in our comprehensive fine arts minor which includes the study of art, music, and theatre.
The study of music complements a variety of majors through the development of presentation skills, the deepening of cultural awareness, the experience of cooperative work toward common goals, and the exploration of creative self-expression. The performing arts are an integral part of a well-rounded education.
Music Scholarships
A limited number of four-year choral scholarships are available for new incoming CSM students. These are awarded by audition during the spring semester.
Theatre
The College of Saint Mary Theatre Department offers students a broad introduction to various aspects of the theatrical arts. All THR courses are approved for fine arts credit in Tiers II and III of the Core Curriculum.
Theatre courses develop communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills that are useful in many careers. Additionally, students have the opportunity to experience many aspects of theatrical production through our resident professional theatre company, Brigit Saint Brigit.
.
Theatre Opportunities
Through the presence of the Brigit Saint Brigit Theatre Company on our campus, students have the opportunity to attend a variety of productions every season. Admission is usually free for CSM students. We work closely with Omaha area performing arts organizations to bring a variety of educational programs to the CSM campus. Students are encouraged to explore the wealth of theatre opportunities in the Omaha community.
