As one of the 109 colleges in the California community college system, Crafton Hills College is committed to providing citizens in the region with an accessible higher education. The philosophy of California's community colleges is that education is the key to better jobs, a better economy, and a better quality of life.

Crafton has an enrollment of 5,100 students. The small size of the college allows for much more one-on-one communication between instructors and students. It is located on the rolling hills above the cities of Yucaipa and Redlands.

The college is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the accrediting body for California and the Western Pacific.

Crafton Hills offers 32 degree programs and 25 occupational certificate plans.


These are the main objectives of the college:

* Serving students interested in transferring to four-year colleges and universities to obtain bachelor's degrees;
* Serving students interested in obtaining two-year associate degrees;
* Providing career and technical education programs that offer opportunities in training, retraining, and skill building;

Art Department

MIssion
It is the intention of the Art Department to offer the information and experience to help you choose a path of heart and purpose. Whether your purpose is to communicate deeply personal information or a visual exchange at a more universal level, you
will be well served by the CHC Department of Art.


Theatre Department

Mission
The Crafton Hills Theater Arts department provides a unique synthesis of the performing Arts in its curriculum and public performances. In the past year we did eight shows in a diverse group of theatrical styles. The program stresses developing the individual student's personal creativity in theater arts. Six of the shows were either student directed or co-student directed and many individual students had an opportunity to function in a variety of capacities as both directors, actors, technicians, management staff and designers. The Crafton Hills Theater Arts department works closely in conjunction with the Crafton Hills Arts League. The League is one the largest student organizations on campus and performs a number of activities such as fundraising, promoting the arts on campus and organizing students events and publicity
for the Performing Arts Center.

Drama, Dance and Musical Theatre
At Crafton Hills Hills we stress an eclectic approach emphasizing the development of different performance technique in the performing arts: dancing, singing , acting movement in a variety of styles of shows and performance. We are in the process of cross listing many of the dance class such as Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballroom with the Physical Education department. Under the umbrella of THART 140 class, Theater Workshop we are presenting a wide variety of theatrical productions such as modern dance, musical theater, reader’s theater, drama and shows of monologues and one act plays.


Music Department

Mission
Crafton Hills College Fine Arts Department offers an Associate's Degree in Music. A full range of theory, appreciation, and performance classes are offered. The music program has three performing ensembles: Jazz Ensemble, Choir, and Contemporary Ensemble - all open to students with varying experience. The ensembles perform concerts and recitals several times throughout each semester. The Performing Arts Center houses a piano lab, a theatre, a convertible recital hall, and practice rooms.
