Visual Arts

The LCCC Associates of Arts degree in Fine Arts provides basic studies in the concepts, techniques, and methods of the visual arts.

Our purpose is to encourage traditional, contemporary and experimental solutions to artistic problems through courses in history, theory and studio art. The Art major leads to an Associates of Art degree, and is designed for transfer to a four-year institution and/or for acceptance into art institutes devoted to the advancement of specific art skills.

Non-art majors are welcome to study in this area for personal reasons or for application to other programs such as Web page design, multimedia, and computer graphics.

Music

Music Degree at LCCC

The major in music prepares students for careers in performance, school or studio teaching, music business, and music theory and composition. The courses offered lead to an Associate of Arts degree and may be applied toward various bachelor’s degree programs in music.

Many courses and ensembles are available to the non-music major. Students can study and experience music of virtually any style, from Western European art music to jazz or ethnic music.

Private music lessons (applied music) are required of all music majors. Registration for ensemble requirements should be in consultation with a music advisor.

Theatre

The LCCC Theatre program gives students practical experience in theatre productions as well as exposure to various aspects of theatre including dramatic literature, theatre history, and the crafts of acting, directing, and design/technology.

We have highly qualified faculty in the theoretical and applied areas of theatre. Opportunities in theatre at LCCC are expansive. Students may audition and participate in theatre productions as early as their first semester at LCCC.

Career Opportunities in Theatre

The study of theatre prepares students for a number of interesting careers as actors, directors, designers and technicians who use their skills in a variety of venues.

In addition to stage, film and television, students who study theatre often find employment in other areas such as law, education, psychology and private consulting.

LCCC Program Advantages

Our program is accredited, leads to an Associate of Arts degree, and is tailored to be a seamless transfer toward a Bachelor of Arts degree in the university setting. Numerous scholarships are available.

The theatre program produces a minimum of one play and one musical each year, and in addition to acting in these productions, students acquire a broad base of knowledge in set construction, lighting operation, sound operation and costuming.
