Gallery
The Art Department at Appalachian State University offers an intimate educational experience in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina while also exposing students to a broad view of the art world. The Art Department's own gallery, The CATHERINE J. SMITH GALLERY , and the university’s TURCHIN CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS, a progressive art venue in the region, bring art to the campus and provide opportunities for students to view and participate in exhibitions.
The Catherine Smith Gallery program offers annual exhibitions of senior student work and showings of artists from many studio arts areas, which afford first hand exposure to quality, professional artwork. Other exhibition opportunities include the university's Looking Glass Gallery, a public gallery in the Student Union that welcomes student exhibits.
