The Art Institute of Charlotte

The Art Institute of Charlotte is a dynamic institution of higher education with a mission to give our students the knowledge and skills necessary to enter their chosen fields. Whether they choose the world of fashion merchandising, graphic arts, interior design, interactive media design or the culinary arts, our graduates are capable of contributing fully within a diverse workforce and a global environment.

The Art Institute of Charlotte is licensed and accredited to offer Bachelor of Arts and Associate of Applied Science degrees as well as Certificates.

History & Mission

Our History
The Art Institute of Charlotte was established in 1973 as the American Business & Fashion Institute. The college joined The Art Institutes system of schools in 1999 and changed its name to The Art Institute of Charlotte.

ACCREDITATION
The Art Institute of Charlotte is accredited by The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).

LICENSING
We are licensed to award certificates by the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges and licensed to award Associate and Bachelor degrees by the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina.


Facilities & Resources

Our School
The Art Institute of Charlotte is conveniently located between Interstate Highways 85 and 77 in beautiful LakePointe Office Park near Charlotte’s Douglas International Airport.

We occupy a 56,500-square-foot facility featuring a library, seven computer labs (both Mac and PC), three instructional kitchens, classrooms, drawing labs, supply store, administrative offices and an art gallery.

Student housing is available in luxury apartment complexes near The Art Institute of Charlotte. Shuttle service is available.
