Mission Statement

The Art Institute of Tampa serves the educational needs of its students through Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees by advancing their current state of knowledge, to developing programs which meet the changing needs of the business community, and to encouraging graduates to apply the knowledge they gain in their chosen field and for the good of the society in which they live.

While generating the resources necessary to accomplish its aims, The Art Institute of Tampa maintains and improves the quality of its faculty and works to achieve its mission through the following educational goals:

To help students master their chosen areas of competency and to prepare them to continue their professional development in those fields.

To teach students the methods and techniques that are currently used in their chosen fields and provide them with problem-solving skills to develop the resources needed to constantly update their skills

To foster within each student a desire to maintain a high degree of professionalism in their chosen careers and to continue learning throughout their lives.

To give students broad foundations in the theory and practice of their chosen occupations.

To offer educational programs to students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse cultural experiences.

To promote an environment of academic freedom in which instructors are free to teach and students are free to learn.

To provide for an ongoing process of self-assessment to determine if the educational programs are meeting their stated goals.

Programs

Our programs are designed to not only to help you develop your creativity, but to make you marketable to employers when you graduate. Each of our academic departments host guest speakers, supervise classes, and keep students informed of opportunities to work with professionals in the industry. Students are encouraged to enter their work in competitions, volunteer their time to complete extra-curricular projects related to their field of study, and to network and learn by attending seminars and workshops.

At The Art Institute of Tampa, your education is relevant, practical, and hands-on. Professionals and prominent employers who are leaders in their industry design the coursework in each program of study. They keep us apprised as to the range of skills that they look for in prospective employees. Class sizes are kept small enough to allow for individual attention, and academic advisors work with students one-on-one to help them stay on track. Many of our award-winning faculty are also working outside of the classroom in their industry, so you will learn what's happening out there...in here.

The best way to learn about something is to do it. Therefore, our classes often mirror what you will find on the job. Learning how to present new ideas, adhere to deadlines, and work in teams will help you flex your creative muscles. The Art Institute of Tampa students don’t just learn about the visual arts. They design rooms, go on photo shoots, create ad campaigns, construct garments, develop computer animation, and sell original paintings. They move through their academic programs together, establishing a network and interacting with design students in all disciplines as they complete their coursework and pursue their academic and career goals.

The Art Institute of Tampa offers Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Graphic Design and Multimedia & Web Design and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Game Art & Design, Media Arts & Animation and Interior Design.

Financial Aid

Most students receive some form of financial aid to assist them in paying for their college education. Unlike most public colleges, The Art Institute of Tampa will provide you with one-on-one assistance with all financial aid forms required to start your journey.

Our Approach to Financial Aid
If you are interested in applying for financial aid the first step would be to let your ADA (Assistant Director or Admissions) know so they can set you up with an appointment to meet with one of our Admissions Coordinators, who will help you with the entire process.

You can also print out all of the forms needed to complete the financial aid process and complete them at home, print them out and bring them in and discuss them with an Admissions Coordinator.

The Art Institute of Tampa provides "financial planning" for its students. This means that we can provide a payment plan that will allow you to budget for your entire program. Our goal in Student Financial Services is to make your monthly payments as affordable to you as possible. After you complete the application forms, your Student Financial Planner will review them using a federally required calculation to determine your eligibility for financial aid. The Planner will then work with you and your family to devise a Student Financial Plan to help you cover your educational expenses, based on your financial aid eligibility and your family circumstances.

When to apply for financial aid
As soon as you enroll at The Art Institute of Tampa, you should apply for financial aid. All financial aid is first come, first serve. Continuing students should apply as soon as possible after the new year's FAFSA is distributed. Deadline dates will be provided each year.
