Art
The Waynesburg University Fine Arts programs offer the academic foundation, hands-on experience, and personalized guidance you will need for success. Class sizes are small, permitting individualized instruction and dvising.
Studio arts taught at Waynesburg University include drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and design. These avenues of visual expression, as well as elective courses in graphic design, computer imaging, and technical illustration, will help to prepare you for a studio career or for specialized study in graduate school.
You will explore the creative process, gain practical experience using the tools and techniques of the visual artist, and develop an appreciation for artistic expression in a variety of cultures.
As you explore your talent and abilities, you will also gain an important perspective concerning the role of the arts and artists in modern society through studio and art history courses.
All art instruction takes place in the new Fine Arts Center, which includes a gallery, the Benedum Fine Arts Gallery, for presenting the work of student and professional artists.
Music
The Waynesburg University Music Program offers study in theory and applied music, music pedagogy and music history and appreciation. You can tailor your course of study to vocal or instrumental music. A minimum of 20 credit hours must be completed for the music minor.
One of the special advantages of studying music at Waynesburg University is the availability of practical experience. You can participate in vocal or instrumental groups, including the Lamplighters concert choir, the Lamplighters touring choir, the University concert band and pep band.
You will also have the opportunity to join the national band honorary society, Kappa Kappa Psi and study in the University's beautiful fine arts center.
The Music Minor

If you love the theatrical arts, Waynesburg University courses in acting, directing, stage production, and theatre history and criticism await you. The 19-credit-hour Theatre Minor can be combined with study in any other major.
At Waynesburg University you will have abundant opportunities to test your theatre skills both on stage and off. With several theatre productions each academic year, including comedies, tragedies, musicals and one-acts, you can fine tune the skills you learn in the classroom.
With an active chapter of the national theatre honorary society, Alpha Psi Omega, Waynesburg University theatre minors and production participants enjoy many opportunities to nurture their love for theatre while improving their acting, directing and stage production skills.
The Theatre Minor
"All the World is a Stage," and the stage at Waynesburg University is calling you! If you love Theatre and the theatrical arts, courses in acting, directing, playwriting, stage production, history and criticism await you. The Waynesburg University Players is a very active part of the College life, presenting major productions during the fall and spring semesters as well as the summer. Student-directed one-act plays, nights of improvisation, and trips to see professional theatre are also part of our "scene." We want you to help us make "magic!" Comedies, tragedies, dramas, and musicals have all found their way to the stage of the Performing Arts Center with such productions as West Side Story, Macbeth, Lend Me a Tenor, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Frankenstein, You Can't Take It with You, Brigadoon, Annie Get Your Gun, Godspell, and Steel Magnolias, to name a few. In addition to our major productions in the PAC, our intimate 250 seat auditorium, we also sponsor The King's Court, a Christian Drama touring troupe which performs in area churches. Waynesburg also has a chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, the nationally recognized honorary theatre society.
The 19 to 21 credit hour Theatre Minor can work well with and benefit any number of majors.
Associate Professor of Theatre and Director of Drama Edward L. Powers invites all of you to become part of theatre magic. Trod the boards with the Waynesburg University Players and become the "stuff that dreams are made on."
